COLOUR, fun and festivity were the highlights on the She Knows The Rules purple carpet at Friday night’s Twenty 20 at the MCG.

Droves of chicks, blokes, kids and cricket fanatics walked the carpet and posed for our photographer on their way to watching an entertaining clash between Australia and Pakistan.

There was plenty of face and body paint, green and gold in all sorts of forms and flags representing both nations - all forming cricket’s new culture of glitz and glam.

Here were some of my favourites….

* One group of creative gals proudly displayed their signs which read `I wish I was Lara’, `Nice one, Shane’ and `Look out for the Bear attack’

* I was very impressed with the chicks wearing the Team Johnson, Marsh and Tait singlets. They are making me a Team White one and I’m very excited!

*The two lads covered from head to toe in green and gold body paint who were channelling the Hulk. It would’ve been fun trying to scrub that off!

Channel Nine’s Heidi Valkenburg was our MC and she did a terrific job grilling our carpet walkers.

We even received a visit from Brownlow Medallist and Melbourne’s newest bachelor, Gary Ablett, who happily took one of our SKTR flyers – even He Knows The Rules!

After the carpet had rolled up (get it?!) it was time to head to the Cricket Australia function. Amid the champagne, yummy appetisers, mountains of sushi and avalanche of desert (I, like G.Ablett, enjoyed the lemon gelati) there was a host of the who’s who of Melbourne taking in the action.

From deputy PM Julia Gillard to comedian Glenn Robbins, television and radio personalities such at 3AW’s Neil Mitchell, Stephen Quartermain from Channel 10 and Matt of  FOX FM’s Matt and Jo Show fame, AFL footballers and the young crew from Neighbours.

All in all I have no doubt all 60, 054 at the G enjoyed the crash and bang of Twenty20 – there were big hits, a 160.7 lightning bolt from Shaun Tait and some great catches. Something for everyone.

``I love cricket and I play for the state, for the Vic Spirit under-16 team. Mitchell Johnson is my favourite player because he is so hot.

I like the excitement of Twenty20, the big hits and great atmosphere.’’

Chloe Chetterton

Age: 15

``I full on love cricket; there are a lot of hot players. Mitchell Johnson is my favourite because he is the sexiest.

``I think the best thing this summer has been Shane Watson finally making 100.’’

Molly Davidson

Seddon

Age: 15``I don’t really know much about cricket, but I’m here with my friends. I’ve come to the cricket once before. I can’t wait to see the sexy players.

I think cricket has its own language, it’s like Japanese - that’s the most confusing thing.’’

Tara Softley

Greensborough

Age: 24

``I like cricket because it’s something you can watch outdoors. I came along tonight because I wasn’t working.

Michael Clarke would have to be my favourite Australian player. Twenty20 is good because it’s quick, and a fast game is a good game.’’

Liz Farley

Age: 24

``My boyfriend loves cricket and that’s how I got into it. I’ve picked up the rules and things about the game through him watching it on TV.

Funnily enough he isn’t here tonight, he’s up in QLD but I still decided to come along to the game. Peter Siddle is my favourite cricketer, because he’s a Victorian.’’
