Megan Hustwaite
Hustwaite, an award-winning print journalist, has taken out eight national and state industry prizes for newspaper pieces on cricket, AFL, basketball and baseball.
A swag of Cricket Victoria media awards have also recognised her enviable list of sports contacts, knowledge of the game and intuition in seeking out the best news yarns for her readers. If there’s a story to be told, Hustwaite is your source.
As a full-time sports journalist with Melbourne’s number one community newspaper group "Leader Newspapers", and a regular on-air talent and producer for 1116 SEN, Australia’s only 24-hour sports station, Hustwaite made history back in 2008, and aged only 21, as the first female to read a sports bulletin on the station.
She was also the inaugural cricket columnist on sheknowstherules.com.au and was part of the SKTR purple carpet at the MCG for the Australia v Pakistan T20 in February 2010.
Hustwaite is passionate about cricket, nominates a ball signed by Brad Hodge as one of her treasured possessions, has Peter Roebuck and Gideon Haigh’s books stacked on the bedside table and regularly sets the alarm to get up and watch matches in the middle of the night.
She revels in the cut and thrust of the action, both on and off the field, and what makes the characters tick.
